UL and the US BCSD work together to support the expansion of US BCSD's Materials Marketplace and help companies secure recognition for reuse through third-party certification

UL and the US BCSD work together to extend third-party validation services such as UL’s standards for circularity, recycled content and waste diversion, to members of the Material Marketplace, which helps demonstrate recognition for their efforts to help create a more circular economy. 

UL has established procedures, standards and products addressing a number of circularity topics and opportunities:

  • Recycled Content: validates the post-consumer, pre-consumer (post-industrial) or total recycled content of a product by means of auditing.

  • Calculation of Estimated Recyclability Rate: evaluates a product’s recyclability through testing or auditing.

  • Zero Waste to Landfill: validates a company’s waste diversion claims to a variety of levels through auditing.

  • SPOT Product Database: a credible and comprehensive way to search for more than 100,000 sustainable products.
